i was listening to 'five for fighting' when i painted this. maybe i. one more for love. devil in the wishing well. easy tonight. if i had listened to aimee mann, i wonder what it would have been like.

Downtown Chicago (Part 2)

The statement above was made by John Ruskin, though the original version is somewhat different -- I edited it by replacing the word 'penguin' with 'sunset' :) I took this photo yesterday on our way to the mall, Shellane was driving and I immediately asked her if we could stop and take some pictures as soon as I looked out the window of her car and saw how nice the scenery was -- it was really beautiful and I am only able to capture a fraction of that beauty. Here's another attempt:



My good friend Shellane used to live in this neighborhood, that golf course was right behind her old apartment. I wonder how she could have managed to give it up! It's really a nice place to live in. If I can afford $1250/month for my rent, I'd definitely live there! :)

Shellane, your old apartment is for lease right? You can post the address and some photos here and maybe we can find new tenants for you. Penge commission, hehe!

missing mangoes

actually...she maybe missing more than mangoes. she could be missing friends, loved ones, her own room, her mom, her dog, her home, her old self...she misses all that and probably more and is trying to entertain herself by taking photos of the things around her. she's focusing on the new, the big, the tall, the colorful, the bright, anything that she finds interesting...the twisted, the worn out, the weathered, the abandoned, the solemn, the old, the crooked... she and i are probably the same in that we try to enjoy whatever new things we encounter or experience as much as we can: to extract whatever beauty there is in one thing, in one thought, in one moment -- not really to escape loneliness but to experience that moment fully, completely. of course, just like eating mangoes, we would find that the experience is not always ripe, pretty and sweet but we revel in that moment just the same. that's just how it is i guess after all, how can you recognize that something is sweet unless you know what sour taste is like?

anyway...i really just wanted to share the dorwing and hope you would appreciate it as well. more dorwings from this website: www.littlerocket.net.

Anong lugar sa mundo ang munti at mahilig mag-dahilan?

Ayan pa isang pic, para kasali naman ako. Matagal na kuha 'yang mga litrato na 'yan. First Sunday ng March. Napansin mo ba, may dating miyembro ng That's Entertainment diyan. Nilibre pa nga kami, buffet ng Filipino-Chinese food for $10 -- not bad at all! They had crispy pata...hindi ko na maalala 'yung iba pero i guess that alone should be enough to say that it was worth it :) May kasama pang TFC kaya I was able to watch Sam Milby being given a platinum award for his debut album. O 'di ba.

Wasn't that fabulous? :)

Kuha ni Kuya

Padala ng kapatid ko 'yung litrato. Kuha nung December pa gamit ang kamera nya. Sa may likod 'yan ng Boom na Boom sa Pasay. Mas mura dun kaunti kesa sa Rockwell, try nyo 'pag mapadaan kayo -- definitely better than the rides in Star City :)

Nasabi ko na ba na photographer ang kuya ko at proud ako dyan dahil ang galing nya para sa akin. Mabait 'yan at masarap kausap tungkol sa kung ano-ano at kasabay manood ng Lord of the Rings, Star Wars at movies ni Akira Kurosawa. Masungit lang minsan nang walang dahilan at may katamaran sa bahay :P Hehe. Paborito 'yan ng lolo ko :) Sabi nya sa email nya sa akin:
