"BATIBOT"
from Aming Katha

Ang Aming Katha was supposed to be about memories, childhood memories in particular. Batibot, after all, was that TV show that kept us happy during our childhood. We all know the lyrics to the show's theme: "Pagmulat ng mata, langit nakatawa sa Batibot, sa Batibot."

It was that time when we were content with what we had, when we had everything we needed, and when everybody we wanted to be with were with us.

But we grow up; too soon, in fact, and eventually, we need to leave Batibot behind. We grow up and see that the world is not about the happy songs we used to sing and the fun games we used to play. We realize that we're no longer in Batibot.

And then we grow up even more; some of us even forget that Batibot ever existed, and that they were ever in that place. All of the wonder is erased from their minds.

But then, our lives were designed in such a way that we could have a taste of Batibot every now and then, some more often than others. It would not be the same as the Batibot we knew when we were kids.

But it still is similar to that place. The fun and games, the songs, and the stories may no longer be there, but it still is a place where you could be happy. It's still that place that makes you thankful you actually exist. It's still that place that makes you care. It's still that place that makes you feel that you have all that you could ever ask for in the world.

Each person has her own personal happy place, her very own Batibot. It could be enjoyed only a few moments at a time, and then we need to grow up, move on. We need to leave again.

And then once more we go back into the world. We stumble, get hurt, get our hearts broken. But we carry on living despite the bruises and the broken hearts. We carry on because we know we could be back in Batibot in no time. A different kind of Batibot, but Batibot nonetheless.

After a While
galing ke loraine

After a while you learn the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul,

And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company
doesn't mean security,

And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and
presents aren't promises,

And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and
your eyes open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a
child,

And you learn to build all your roads on today because
tomorrow's ground is
too uncertain for plans.

After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get
too much.

So plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
instead of waiting for
someone to bring you flowers.

And you learn that you really can endure...

That you really are strong,

And you really do have worth.
I am a sheep, but so is most of my friends from school...

Sheep are gentle, selfless creatures - you will find many of them in the caring professions. They are often artistic but tend to follow an established tradition rather than create an original style. Consequently, they make skilled craftspeople. In fact, in all spheres of life Sheep people, like the animals they are named after, are followers rather than leaders. They often lack a sense of direction and therefore can become lost and confused in life if they do not receive strong but kindly guidance. Left to their own devices, Sheep can be irresponsible and impractical.

Sheep people can be great peacemakers, able to defuse an explosive situation with their considerable tact and diplomacy. They value security above all else.

This might be a bit too late, but still worth your while: The 20th Century
Poem from Patch Adams
from Sonnet 17 of Pablo Neruda's 100 Love Sonnets

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep
