can hardly wait

thanks to APC (Accenture Photography Club), i have additional budget to buy a novel from powerbooks! the club gave me P200 for being 2nd placer in the june photo of the month. the theme was "father's day" and i submitted a photo taken from an eco tour last february. konti lang nag-submit kaya siguro napili ako, hehe.

i don't know what book to get uli pero most likely anything from neil gaiman, maybe "stardust" in case i found a copy. ngayong taon lang ako naging fan ni neil gaiman who has been described by others as a "witty, foolishly wise narrator" something which i absolutely agree with. sayang, sana i became a fan before or while i was in the US. it would be much easier for me to find his works kung sakali at pwede pa akong magbenta, hehe! exciting sobra, not knowing what the next book will be and what that book will unfold for me but knowing it will be from neil gaiman, im almost sure it will not be disappointing.

here are the two books from neil gaiman that i found to be truly entertaining -- one is "Coraline", a dark and frightening story for kids featuring an adventurous heroine and the other is "Anansi Boys", a funny and almost magical story about Fat Charlie Nancy, his dad and his unknown brother whom Fat Charlie later discovers are both gods. in the book, Fat Charlie is not really fat... or has not been fat for a long time now but somehow the name stuck and people kept calling him that. if you want to find out why, ask me sometime or get a copy of "Anansi Boys" from the bookstores, hehe.

ayun lang, have a good day everyone!

my best friend's wedding

...i have never seen my friend more beautiful than on her wedding day...

unlike in the movie, i didn't try to stop her wedding BUT i did try to convince my friend to make me photographer instead of bridesmaid -- i think she almost got convinced, pero she thought it was more important for me to be in the entourage than behind the camera. sayang!

best wishes, therese and rich! im truly so happy for you. friend, you look sobrang ganda talaga from the start until the end of the wedding -- kering-keri mo ang mga pangyayari during the ceremony and the reception! i keep telling hannah this, sabi ko talaga you have a different aura about you that i haven't seen in you before. gusto ko ganon din ako pag kinasal ako, promise! congratulations ulit and stay happy! :)

just as you had wished, i also pray to be part of every milestone in your married life from today onwards -- sana gawin mo na akong photographer next time, hehe!

small, spinning world

this photo was taken at an amusement center in glorietta. together with other friends from our photo club, i attended a free travel photography class sponsored by the filipinas heritage library. i won 50 free 4R prints for this -- first time i won something for a photo i submitted. yay!

never wither

tattooed petals

this photo was taken sometime during the holy week. it was black saturday, i think. venue was in front of the faculty center in UP Diliman. went there with my brother and was there for almost two hours. we weren't able to go around at all. when we saw these flowers, my brother decided to stay on the same spot until sundown and we could no longer take any pictures using natural light. i wanted to go around and take pictures of the steps in front of the library or the joggers around the sunken garden but i decided to stay beside him and make the most out of our chosen subject. i guess we both really saw something special about these flowers.

some kind of wonderful

ever heard of the saying, "when life gives you kalamansi, make palabok"? this was sort of my motto earlier today when i woke up at 3am all of a sudden and no matter how i try to turn or change my position in the bed or shut my eyes really close or try to relax myself and let go of any thoughts, i couldn't seem to get back to sleep. it took me some 20 minutes to finally decide id get up and make something out of it. fortunately, i brought the office laptop with me. here's what came out of my playing around picasa from 3am until 5 in the morning:

so, i guess it wasnt bad that my sleep was interrupted after all. this is a collage of wedding pictures i took last december. it was my friend mau's civil wedding and she invited me to be her photographer. although it was on Christmas Day, i didn't hesitate. she was a good friend and i didn't really have anything much to do that day. really, no big family reunion planned that day and nope, i have no ninongs or ninangs to visit. not that i would visit even if i do.

the wedding was really simple, only very close relatives and a few friends were invited. i am really glad to be part of it.
